Khodeir Eid For his Sustainable Development Masters in 2016 and studying Finance as second major, he set up a squad of Green Women (including his mother) who went door-to-door to push for recycling in the 5,000 apartments of his neighborhood. And they started a 2 months trial in May and June, where 80 % of the residents separated their trash into recyclables in a blue bag, and regular trash in a black bag. A team of “Green Men” , made up by men injured in combats, picked up the trash, sorted it, and sold the recyclables to companies.
This trial was successful and attracted the interest of Diane Foundation , which invested in the Green Track NGO. Now real trash bins have been installed in 60 buildings (ie 600 apartments), and more will come. “ The idea is to reach Zero Waste in Jabal Mohsen, then spread the project to the rest of Tripoli, especially Bab El Tebbaneh. The 2 neighborhoods which are regularly at war will socialize over the trash! “
