Shibori | Japanese tie & clamp dye with Indigo Dye
Date: Monday Sept 10 & Wednesday Sept 12
Time: 6:30- 9 PM
Description: Shibori is a traditional Japanese technique of using dye to create intricate patterns on textile. Class begins with an in depth study of indigo dye and explains techniques of shibori. Then YOU get to experiment with creating your own shibori dyed garments!
Fee: $100

Sashiko & Indigo Dye | Japanese Embroidery
Date: Monday Sept 17 & Wednesday Sept 19
Time: 6:30- 9 PM
Description: Class begins with an intro to indigo dyeing. We will dye fabric and learn the steps of traditional Japanese embroidery, Sashiko, from
transferring image to final product. Student will create tote bags with Sashiko stitching detail.
Fee: $100

Silk Painting
Date: Tuesday Sept 18 & Thursday Sept 20
Time: 6:30 pm - 9 PM
Description: Learn several silk painting techniques. Practice and experiment with silk paints, gutta, salt salts and more. Final Project: Create your own silk scarves :)
Fee: $75

Intro to Embroidery
Date: Monday Sept 24 & Wednesday Sept 26
Time: 6:30 – 9 PM
Description: Learn how to transfer images into stitches. The class will cover a variety of basic & intermediate stitches used to create lines and textures on cloth. All necessary materials are included, but feel free to bring any fabric you want to work on!
Fee: $50

About the Instructor: A graduate of NYU, Denise designed costumes for a variety of off-Broadway productions and styled for commercials and films in NYC. As a textile artist, she works primarily with thread, paper, ink and fabric. Of Lebanese descent, but raised in Japan, her work combines elements of Japanese aesthetic with Middle Eastern traditions.
