Exclusive Ashtanga Yoga Workshop with Sarai Harvey Smith at NOK YOGA SHALA

This weekend, the wonderful Sarai Harvey Smith is visiting us from London to give a four days Ashtanga Yoga Workshop. Sarai is a senior yoga teacher, not only within the official lineage of the Ashtanga Yoga Institute, Mysore, but also within the International Yoga Alliance. This is the second time that she visits us here in Beirut and we expect yet another full house and a very inspiring weekend, from start to finish.

The workshop is designed for all levels of practitioners, from beginners to experienced yoga students, who want to spend some time deepening their personal yoga practice, both in body and mind. Sarai's unique approach to teaching and her ability to share her knowledge and insights on the practice with all those she meets are testimony to her many years of experience and loving commitment.

Ashtanga Yoga Workshop: Line Up

Friday 6th December: 18.30 - 20.30 Detailing the Primary Series

Students will be led methodically through some or all of the primary series, with focus on alignment, and correct breath, vinyasa (synchronized movement) and dristi (gaze point). Implementing breath with vinyasa and dristi enables the practitioner to move into a state of 'tristana' - meditation in movement. Beginners will experience the flow and precision of the ashtanga sequence, whilst more seasoned practitioners will enrich their sense of alignment and directionality.

Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th December: 10:00 - 13:00 Mysore Style Self-Practice

In Mysore Style Self-Practice, students of all levels practice together in the same room, practicing to their level and in their own time, whilst the teacher is available to assist students one-to-one as required. The format of the class, whereby students can arrive and leave at anytime, supports the differing levels and durations of different students' practices. For example, a beginner should expect to practice for 30-40 minutes; whilst the more accustomed practitioners' practice usually lasts between 1.30 - 2 hours.

Saturday 7th December: 13:00 - 14:00 Q&A with Sarai

Bring your burning questions on any aspects of yoga, ashtanga, and practice.

Monday 9th December: 08:00 - 10:00 Mysore Style Self-Practice

Last chance to work through any challenges, hurdles or hoops in your practice, before Sarai heads back to London!
