- Contribution: 45’000 LBP/adult, 25'000 LBP/student below 17 y. old (must be accompanied by an adult) covering hiking program, guides and transportation (Please bring the exact amount).
- A down payment of 50% is required to confirm the booking, to be settled by OMT or BoB.

OVERVIEW
Join Green Steps on Sunday 15.09.19 for a special event in the Cedars-Bcharreh to celebrate the Cedars Adoption Day for the glory of our Cedars; followed by a beautiful afternoon hike from the Cedars to Bazoun, passing by the mountains of the neighboring villages till we reach our destination, where we are going to watch an outstanding sunset before going back home.


WHAT TO EXPECT

CEDARS ADOPTION CELEBRATION
You are invited by the Committee of Friends of Cedars Forest to celebrate the Cedars Adoption Day: We’ll visit Green Steps forest in the Cedars; adopters will have the opportunity to meet their Cedar Trees. Hikers joining the event of Green Steps are most welcomed at the Cedars Adoption event. The committee is offering a brunch of saj bites at noon to all attendees.

ABOUT THE AFTERNOON HIKE:
The hike is of level 5, suitable for adults and children above 10 y. :
Circuit length: 9 km
Altitude: 1840 m - 1750 m
Total ascent : 120 m
Total descent : 200 m
Effective hiking time: 3 hrs
The hike will be guided by an ecotourism specialist at a moderate rate.

 Starting at 15h00 from the Cedars, taking agricultural trail, passing through Bqaa Kafra, Bqerqasha till we reach Bazoun.
 We’ll witness beautiful sceneries of various landscapes, small agricultural lakes and fields, Qadisha Valley, Makmel mountain and the surrounding villages.
 At the end of the trail, we’ll have the opportunity to watch an outstanding sunset.
 Our evening will end at a local café to sip a glass of refreshment or have a bite before going back home.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• General knowledge contest and quiz with a valuable prize for the participants
• Needs for the hike: hiking shoes, hiking stick, windbreaker, hat, backpack, water bottles of 1.5 liter min, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, meal (dry fruits, energy bars, and sandwich), ID card, insurance card, smiley face and full energy.
• The tour will be provided by a comfortable air-conditioned bus, reservation required.
• Contribution: 45’000 LBP/adult, 25'000 LBP/student below 17 y. old (must be accompanied by an adult) covering hiking program, guides and transportation (Please bring the exact amount).
• A down payment of 50% is required to confirm the booking, to be settled by OMT or BoB.
• Meeting time and place : Zalka – near L’Abeille d’Or
• Return time : around 22h00 in Zalka.


N.B.:
- Cancellations without prior notice of 24 hours require a payment of 50% of the full contribution
- Hikers are requested to book their places as soon as possible
- Hikers are advised to participate in the hike to their own responsibility
- Hikers are asked to follow hiking ethics provided by Green Steps
- Smoking is not allowed during the hike
- In case of force majeure, some modifications may occur to the program
- No pets are allowed

INFORMATION ABOUT THE REGION
Simply known as "The Cedars", this resort settlement in Lebanon's highest range is one of the most dramatically beautiful spots in the country.
Its centerpiece is an ancient grove of cedars, a tree synonymous for millennia with Lebanon itself. The Cedars is related to Bsharre village, the birthplace of Gibran Khalil Gibran.

Bcharreh District is one of six districts of North Lebanon Governorate.
It is located on the western flank of Jabal Mokmel, the highest mountain of Lebanon. Its area is 156 square kilometers, equivalent to 1.5% of the total area of Lebanon.
The villages Bqaa Kafra, Bqerqasha, Bazoun and Hasroun are part of Bcharreh district.
Its administrative center is located in the city of Bcharreh, birthplace of the poet Jibran Khalil Jibran.
Bcharreh District is characterized by the beauty of its natural landscapes, especially the Qadisha Valley (Wadi Qadisha).
