Kifik ya leila - Mise en scene de Michel Jabre

“ Kifik ya Leila”?!...
The loss of moral standards, and the prevalence of drug use among young people, is one of the negative results of the Lebanese civil war… Add to that, the ignorance of parents in dealing with their children, the prejudices and the concepts that govern the relationship between men and women; all these are topics of public interest including parents and youth.

Laila is an actress, who has moved away from her career during her pregnancy. After birth, she suffers from baby blues. Then she decided to resume her professional life and participate in a casting for the role of a fat woman who resorted to random sexual encounters and drugs to forget her pain and compensate for an inferiority complex. At the request of the director she starts to improvise on the subject, and seizes the opportunity to review her life. It is a deep journey in a psychodrama style characterized by a performance of contradictions.
It is the biography of a torn life that was wasted.
The vision
The machismo and the feminism, the freedom and the sexual slavery, the drugs... all these, are evil means of self-expression or compensation of an inferiority complex. These topics are covered in part through the experience of the heroine Leila, in a grotesque psychological style, which combines the contradictions of human behavior...
A sincere language, that is characterized, by the diversity of performance, between satirical comedy and tragedy, with moments of escape, to the world of reggae.
