SPRING RAIN

will be Malgorzata Paszko’s seventh exhibition at Galerie Alice Mogabgab. She presents twelve recent paintings, acheived between 2014 and 2016.
In this new series of work, Paszko explores the very heart of the plant world. As in her paths, reflections of light, nocturnal and diurnal evocations, the artist acts like a spring breeze, penetrating the branches of a blossoming apple tree, scattering onto the canvas thousands of white and green petals, from the most succulent green of nature’s resurgence to the immaculate white of snow. Like spring rain, she brings out the intoxicating smell of the earth from the heart of the wild grasses and covers the canvas with thousands of wild herbs turning skywards to welcome the joyful rain.
Sprouting from a formidable rise of spring sap, sown by the artist’s creative mind, enhanced by the seasonal light, the wild herbs and white flowers celebrate nature’s fecundity, the changing seasons, the revival of painting.

MALGORZATA PASZKO

born 1956 in Warsaw, lives and works in France.
After her studies at the Warsaw School of Fine Art in 1975, and then the École des Beaux-arts in Paris from 1976 to 1980, she joined in 1978 Bertrand Dorny’s printing studio and obtained a grant from the Fondation de France.
She has since received a number of awards from the Salon de Montrouge in France and the Villa Medici in Rome, as well as the Prix Lacourière for her graphic work in Paris, the Prix Martini and the Prix Michelin for her paintings, also in Paris.
In 1979, the gallery Le Dessin presented Paszko’s work for the first time at the Paris FIAC. Her illustrations, paintings and graphic work have from then on exhibited in various European countries. In 2003, Galerie Alice Mogabgab gave the Polish artist her first Beirut exhibition, which has been followed by several more.
Malgorzata Paszko’s virtuosity stems from a technique developed in secret in her studio, so much so that her canvasses give the impression of having absorbed the paint so as to reveal its transparency, fluidity and radiance.
