OVERVIEW:

• This course will provide participants with an understanding of the key requirements of the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety specification, including how planning for hazard identification, risk analysis, risk control, and OH&S legal and other requirements are linked with the other elements of the OH&S management system.

• The course will cover all the core elements of an OH&S management system, from the OH&S policy, to planning, implementation and operation, checking and corrective action and management review, with the intent of achieving improved OH&S performance.

• The course includes an overview of some of the concepts, processes and techniques available relating to hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control, and their significance within the OH&S Management System. The course has practical exercises, which help in achieving a better understanding of the subject matter.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Individuals who have responsibility for understanding, implementing, or supporting the implementation of their organization's Occupation Health and Safety Management System. This course uses the BSI Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) specification 18001:1999.

PRE-REQUISITE:

 None. However, an understanding of general OH&S principles and practices, or relevant OH&S experience is desirable.

COURSE MATERIALS INCLUDE:

 A comprehensive student workbook, which includes a copy of the OHSAS 18001 standard, all materials presented during the course, supplementary notes and exercises.
