Snowshoeing Experience at Ain Zhalta with GREEN STEPS

- Trail details : level 5 - 7kms - 1400 m to 1680 m – 3.5hrs
- Contribution: 55’000 LBP/adult, 45'000 LBP/student between 12-17 y.old, covering program, guides, entrance to the reserve, snowshoes rental and transportation, excluding food and drinks (Please bring the exact amount).
- Children below 12 y. cannot do the trail.
- Reservation: Friday 25.01.2019 is the last day for Reservation.
- RESERVATION IS REQUIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO BOOK YOUR SNOWSHOES. RENTAL OF SNOWSHOES ON SATURDAY IS NOT POSSIBLE.
- In case of bad weather condition, this event will be postponed.

OVERVIEW
Join GREEN STEPS on Sunday 27th of January 2019 for a snowshoeing experience, embracing the white slopes of Ain Zhalta reserve, crossing its beautiful white covered cedar trees; ending our day with a stop at a local cafe.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A unique winter experience. Enjoy the simplicity of nature and leave your tracks in the snow.
Experience the magic of the snow and leave your everyday cares further behind with every step.
This gentle sport is for everyone, relaxation and enjoyment are guaranteed.

The journey will start with a breakfast stop on our way.
Upon our arrival to Ain Zhalta, we’ll start at an altitude of around 1400 M from where we will be crossing white slopes and the cedar trees of the reserve. From there, your eyes can catch beautiful sceneries of the white landscapes, merged with the clouds and valleys.

We’ll enjoy our lunch on the white carpet of the nature.
And we’ll end our day at a local café to sip a hot drink or have a quick bite, before heading back to Beirut.

Our snowshoeing walk is of level 5
• Total Circuit length: 7 kms
• Altitude: 1400-1680 m
• Slope variation: 280 m
• Effective hiking time: 3.5 hrs
• The hike will be guided by an ecotourism specialist, at a moderate rate.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• General knowledge contest and quiz with a valuable prize for the participants
• Needs for the hike: waterproof shoes, nylon bags for your shoes, rain coat (puncho), waterproof clothes, gaiters, backpack, water bottle of 1 liter min, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, gloves, windbreaker, additional socks, camera, meal (dry fruits, fruits, sandwich), ID card, insurance card, smiley face and full energy.
• The tour will be provided by a comfortable air-conditioned bus, reservation required.
• Contribution: 55’000 LBP/adult, 45'000 LBP/student between 12-17 y.old, covering program, guides, entrance to the reserve, snowshoes rental and transportation, excluding food and drinks (Please bring the exact amount).

• Meeting time and place: at 8h00 am – Zalka, near L’Abeille d’Or – PLEASE BE ON TIME
• Return time : around 05h00 pm.

N.B.:
- Cancellations without prior notice of 24 hours require a payment of 50% of the full contribution
- A minimum of 15 persons is required for the trip to be feasible
- Hikers are requested to book their places, the latest Friday
- Hikers are advised to participate in the hike to their own responsibility
- Hikers are asked to follow hiking ethics provided by Green Steps
- Smoking is not allowed during the hike
- In case of force majeure, some modifications may occur to the program
- No pets are allowed

INFORMATION ABOUT THE REGION
Ain Zhalta is a village in the Chouf District of Mount Lebanon Governorate in southwestern Lebanon, and is around 35 kms away from Beirut.
Ain Zhalta is situated on a southern hill of Wadi al Safa and boasts a number of important springs.
In the town are the remains of a citadel that was built during Maani rule and later was transformed into a Protestant Church.
