STOMP in Lebanon - The Unstoppable Smash Hit

STOMP, the British theatrical sensation that has become a truly global phenomenon, is an infectious mix of percussion, dance, theatre and comedy with an exhilarating soundtrack inspired by the commotion of everyday life. Eight performers use everything from Zippo lighters, bin lids, and even the kitchen sink to hammer out an explosively feel-good rhythm enjoyed by audiences of all ages the world over.

The show was created in Brighton by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas in 1991, previewing at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre and premiering to critical and popular acclaim at the Assembly Rooms at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Between 1991 and 1994, the original cast of Stomp played to capacity audiences around the world: from Hong Kong to Barcelona, from Dublin to Sydney. The touring culminated in a sell-out season at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre in January 94, where Stomp received an Olivier nomination for Best Entertainment and won Best Choreography in a West End Show.

Stomp began its current run at the Orpheum Theatre in New York in February 1994, and the American tour began later that year. In 2002, Stomp entered London’s West End at the Vaudeville Theatre and moved to its current home, the Ambassadors Theatre, in 2007. All the while the show has been touring all corners of the globe - there are up to five companies performing around the world at any one time.

➢ STOMP has been touring the globe for 26 years, playing over 20 thousand performances to more than 12 million people in 55 countries on 6 continents.

➢ There are up to five STOMP companies performing worldwide at any time; one on tour in North America, another throughout Europe, on touring the rest of the world, one in New York (now in its 22nd year) and one in London (now celebrating its 13th year).

➢ In its lifetime STOMP has consumed over 60,000 boxes of matches, 40,000 brooms, 30,000 bins, 20,000 drumsticks and 35,000 litres of black paint applied with 780 paint rollers.
